PHIL202 Know Thyself: Wisdom Through Cognitive Science - Final Presentation and Paper

This presentation and paper were created to fulfill partial requirements for my enrollment in PHIL202 at the University of Maryland, College Park. An oral presentation was completed to start a foundation for the final paper. All of the papers written for this class follow the same structure: (a) describe a cognitive-science finding of your choice, selected from the relevant classes of the course (see #5 for details of which paper covers which topics); (b) describe a concrete situation where those finding raise problems (or offers opportunities for improvement) for society or professional life; (c) outline an intervention/amelioration; (d) make a persuasive case for the likely effectiveness of the intervention you propose, drawing on cognitive-science evidence; and (e) address difficulties or objections to the likely success or feasibility of the intervention

This artifact is connected to my pursuit of a PhD/JD dual degree and to my business ventures. I am pursuing a PhD/JD dual degree to further explore philosophy (especially metaphysics) and law. Creating this paper required me to take a deep dive into philosophy. This paper introduces readers to how I can think and research as a philosopher. The paper showcases my business venture idea, Pod & Pride, before I began truly building it, and it still provides a clear insight into my passion and commitment. I created a paper that I was especially proud of because it is a product of the first two philosophy classes that I took, and because I created a strong paper thanks to the feedback I received from my oral presentation.
